Surrounded by towering gums and lush gardens, Lions Park is more than a playground—it’s a space that celebrates community, connection and the natural beauty of Tamborine Mountain. Designed as a centennial project for Lions Club International, the play space has become a much-loved local destination, offering inclusive, nature-based play for children of all ages.

Project Overview
From the outset, the brief was clear: deliver a nature-focused playground that caters to a wide range of ages and abilities, while blending seamlessly into the environment. Located next to the local school and early learning centre, the Lions Park play space needed to feel both accessible and adventurous—offering meaningful movement, social connection and sensory exploration.
To complement the site’s natural character, PARX incorporated a range of custom Rustik hardwood play elements, including net climbers, a scramble trail and timber swing. A lovingly restored fallen log—repurposed by the Lions Club—sits as a central feature, offering open-ended play through climbing, balancing and tactile discovery. Sandstone block seating, hand-carved timber totems and native plantings soften the edges and complete the space.
The Finished Space
At the upper level, children can climb and balance through interconnected trails and net systems, before sliding down an embankment to explore open-ended natural elements below. A dry creek bed doubles as both a nature play zone and a stormwater management feature, ensuring the space is functional in all seasons. Sight lines were carefully considered, with sandstone seating offering natural pause points for supervision.
